Wyndham open for business

Now, more than ever, local businesses need the community’s support and Wyndham council is working hard to make this happen.

Council’s website now hosts a full list of local businesses that are continuing to trade, providing an easy one-stop shop for residents.

Wyndham mayor Cr Josh Gilligan, congratulated local businesses for adapting quickly to the new environment.

“Everyone has had to show agility to adapt to this new environment, but businesses have had to be particularly innovative,” Cr Gilligan said.

“At Wyndham City we are doing everything we can to support the 84,000 workers, local business owners and their families that depend on an active local economy in Wyndham.”

The recently launched ‘Wyndham, We’re in this together’ social media campaign is using the hashtags #wyndhamtogether and #wyndhamopen to highlight how businesses are evolving and continuing to service the local community.

“With Easter and Mother’s Day coming up, what better way to purchase your gifts while supporting local businesses?” Cr Gilligan said.

“To show your support and praise for local businesses, you can ‘like’ and share their social media posts to promote what they are offering.”

“The longer your money stays in Wyndham, the more it multiplies to make our economy stronger.”

“For every $100 spent in the local economy, $67.16 stays … local, but the same amount of money spent on a non-Wyndham online site only retains $4.17.”

“Your locally-spent dollars will have the knock-on effect of keeping local staff employed, and households afloat, while these health restrictions are in place.”
