Values to live by, in and out of school

Simon Haber, principal of Tarneit Senior College, says his school sees it as a great honour to play its role in supporting each student’s aspirations.

“We’re excited to work with parents and students as they embark on their final years of education,” he says. “Our commitment to helping each young person reach their pathway destination – whether university, TAFE or employment – is very strong.”

Mr Haber says the college’s contemporary learning spaces also allow students to more readily engage with 21st-century learning.

“The recent addition of our 400-seat auditorium, a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen, a modern library, and a brand-new stadium highlight the investment made in quality facilities to provide our students with a rich and diverse curriculum.”

He says that the school’s values are integral to the success and growth of students as they embark on adulthood.

“Interwoven with activities in and outside the school, these values are Integrity: believing in yourself and those around you; Innovation: applying knowledge and skills in new and creative ways; and Focus: pursuing your chosen pathways and goals.”

The college offers a comprehensive and rich VCE program that caters for student preference, and a well-established VCAL program that allows for applied learning.

“As a specialist senior college, our highly dedicated teachers are well-equipped to provide a challenging and rigorous curriculum that helps each student progress.

“This dedication extends to each of our students as they are supported through our well-established House structure, specialist careers and pathways support, and student wellbeing programs.

“We encourage our students to participate in our extensive range of extra-curricular activities and community engagement programs which are tailored to suit a range of interests and abilities.

“We believe participation in these programs improves academic performance, builds connectedness to peers, expands student interests, and develops the skills required to actively contribute to the broader community.”

The college is ready to welcome new students and their families, who are invited to contact the college by phone or visit the website below for more information.
