Taking fitness out of the box

How does a fitness centre with no set class times, no bookings and no waiting lists sound? This clever approach, adopted by 12RND Fitness Hoppers Crossing, has proven a big hit with clients during its first year of operation.

Husband and wife owners, Bianca and Matt McAuliffe, say their unique format offers a new round of boxing, strength and conditioning every three minutes. Along with this, 12RND provides a new workout every day, allowing members to get a full body workout each and every time they train.

“This allows participants to get some great training at a time that suits them,” Matt says.

“We recently turned one during lockdown 2.0 and we’re looking forward to celebrating our first birthday when we reopen.”

Despite facing lockdown restrictions for half of 2020, Bianca says 12RND Hoppers Crossing has thrived. She attributes this partly to the pair’s focus on delivering a fun-filled and relaxed environment.

“Since opening last July, we’ve consistently grown and now have an amazing fit-fam community,” Matt says.

“Our members are amazing and make coming into the gym an absolute pleasure – and our online reviews reflect that. We’re incredibly lucky to have them as part of our family.”

Matt says that Bianca is the backbone of the operation, keeping things in order with her accounting and business management skills, and has already been given the title of Queen B by the members.

“The members love her and she loves them.”

Matt was the one looking for a change of career after being a carpenter for most of his working life.

“When my mate Terry made me aware of the 12RND concept, I was sold on the idea,” Matt explains. “After years of trying to find a gym that incorporated all the types of training I enjoy, along with a love for boxing – and then to top it off with the no set class times – it was a match made in heaven! We’ve never looked back.”

Bianca and Matt consider themselves very lucky to have Nate Keti as part of the team.

“Nate is well known in the area and brings years of strength and conditioning experience, and combines that with a passion to help improve other lives – not only physically and mentally but spiritually as well,” Matt says. “Nate’s relaxed nature, plus an eye for detail in the use of correct technique and form, has made him the perfect fit for the club and a popular member of the 12RND team.”
