Demands for a bridge to replace the Cottrell Street ford are mounting following the tragic drowning of a young Werribee boy last Wednesday. However, estimates of such a bridge have been placed as high as $700,000 which council would have to bear alone.

Possibly the proudest woman in the British Commonwealth last Sunday was Diana, Princess of Wales, as she watched her husband Prince Charles in his team’s victorious match against the State side at Werribee Park on Sunday. The Prince of Wales hit the first goal of the match.

Werribee Football Club called for the sacking of the Victorian State Football League board after it refused to reverse the decision to exclude the club from next year’s statewide competition.
