Wyndham Business Awards: A special night | Photos

A Werribee company that is home to the world’s largest barramundi hatchery has been named Wyndham’s business of the year.

MainStream Aquaculture won the award at the Wyndham Business Awards at the cultural centre on Friday night.

The company also took home the award for best manufacturing business.

Awards were handed out in 16 categories during a celebration of the business event’s 20th year.

Westpoint Ford principal director Chris Byrne was named businessperson of the year.

Mr Byrne received the award for his customer service approach and his dedication to staff.

He was also recognised for his work with at-risk and homeless young people.

Laverton North’s Cummins South Pacific received the mayoral award for its work with secondary school students and the Beacon Foundation.

The diesel engine manufacturer has donated engines to the Point Cook Senior Secondary College Trades Training Centre and is part of the young ambassadors for industry program brokered by the WynBay Local Learning and Employment Network.
