TIMES may have changed since the days when debutante balls were for introducing noble daughters to high society, but young Werribee belles and beaus got a taste of Victorian-era elegance before taking to the dance floor last month.
More than 90 Westbourne Grammar year 11 and 12 students donned tuxedos and ball gowns for a photo shoot at Werribee Mansion on March 23 before a limousine ride to a reception hall.
A total of 46 couples – the school’s biggest-ever turnout – took part in the event, which was the culmination of seven weeks of dance classes.
Debutante Montana Nicoloutsopoulos (pictured, centre) said the students took the night very seriously.
“The presentation ball is an extremely important part of our high school years – it allows us to celebrate becoming young adults with our family and friends.”
