Duo warms up for marathon battle to keep our kids safe

TAMMY and Ben Robinson are on a mission to improve the safety and well-being of Australia’s children.

The Point Cook couple want to raise $10,000 for protection advocate Bravehearts to help put an end to childhood sexual assaults.

To raise the money, Mr Robinson will attempt to run seven marathons across seven states in seven days, while his wife will attempt her first marathon.

The pair made the decision to take part in the Bravehearts fund-raiser after an adult relative was convicted of sexually assaulting Mrs Robinson when she was a child. She battled through the court system for three years to have the relative accept responsibility for what happened.

“It was a tough time for my family so we wanted to do something to help others so that no other child has to experience what I did,’’ she said.

Mr Robinson will begin his challenge in Perth on October 19 before moving on to Adelaide, Melbourne, Hobart, Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane. Mrs Robinson will travel with him and join him in running the Melbourne marathon.
