Summer sessions at Werribee South beach

Wyndham council has partnered with Life Saving Victoria again this year, to provide patrols at Werribee South beach for a six-week period from mid-December to late January.

In the build up to summer, the council will also be hosting a range of events commencing Saturday, November 20 through to Saturday, December 11.

The Werribee South Beach Sessions will be activity-based and with a focus on swim safety for residents of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.

Beach clean-ups, sport events and photography sessions will also be held.

Wyndham mayor Adele Hegedich said: “The Werribee South Beach Summer Sessions, combined with the important patrolling from Life Saving Victoria, will make Wyndham the place to be during the warmer months.”

“The range of fun and informative events will help residents swim safely throughout summer right here in Wyndham.”

To stay safe at the beach this summer, remember to:

• Swim between the red and yellow flags

• Read the beach safety signs to check swimming conditions

• Speak to lifeguards on patrol before swimming

• Swim with a friend, buddy or companion

• If in trouble, stay calm and raise your arm above your head to signal to patrolling Life Savers
