Drugs, weapons, cash uncovered in Werribee

Police allegedly found cannabis, GHB, knives, a homemade firearm, ammunition and cash when they searched a car in Werribee at the weekend.

Police intercepted the car on Thames Boulevard on Saturday, just after 5pm.

A 29-year-old Werribee man was arrested and charged with with traffick drugs, possess unregistered handgun, possess explosives, possess cannabis, deal property suspected proceeds of crime, possess weapons, possess cartridge ammunition, possess prohibited weapon without exemption, possess signal without reasonable excuse, drive while disqualified and commit indictable offence while on bail.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at the Werribee Magistrates Court on June 7.

A 23-year-old Harkness man was also arrested and is expected to be charged on summons with similar offences, police said.
