The number of active COVID-19 cases diagnosed in Wyndham residents has risen to 535 today, compared to 519 active cases yesterday.
The top five municipalities in Victoria for active cases of the virus are Brimbank (with 571 active cases), Wyndham, Hume (with 392 active cases) Whittlesea (with 334 active cases) and Melbourne (with 287 active cases).
According to the Department of Health and Human Services, a total of 183 COVID-19 cases have been connected to Al-Taqwa College in Truganina.
Fifty-three cases of the virus have been linked to the Glendale Aged Care facility in Werribee, and 51 cases have been linked to Baptcare Wyndham Lodge in Werribee.
In addition, 14 cases have been linked to the Linfox Warehouse in Truganina; 10 cases have been linked to StarTrack in Laverton; eight cases have been linked Diamond Valley Pork in Laverton North; five cases have been linked to staff at KFC in Truganina; and five cases have been linked to Laverton Cold Storage in Truganina.
At a state level, Victoria has recorded 384 new cases of coronavirus since yesterday.
The overall total has increased by 353, due to 31 cases being reclassified, largely due to duplication.
There are now 4775 cases currently active in Victoria.
Seventy-eight of the new cases are linked to known outbreaks or complex cases and 306 cases are under investigation.
There have been six new deaths from COVID-19 reported since yesterday. They were a man and a woman in their 90s, two women and a man in their 80s and a man in his 70s. Four of the deaths are linked to aged care facilities. To date, 83 people have died from coronavirus in Victoria.
A total of 260 Victorians with the coronavirus are in hospital, including 42 people in intensive care. More than 3930 people in Victoria have recovered from the virus.
A Mercy Health spokesperson last week said that Werribee Mercy Hospital was collaborating with other public hospitals in Melbourne’s west to provide isolation wards and treatment for COVID-19 patients, and patients who are suspected of having the virus.
“The arrangement between hospitals enables a more extensive flow of patients to be processed and sent to the facility which has the greatest capacity at a particular time,” the spokesperson said.
“Mercy Health has access to the national stockpile of PPE and reserves are currently being managed adequately.”
