State election: Labor on track to win Werribee, Tarneit and Altona

ALP’s Tim Pallas is on track to be the first MP representing the new seat of Werribee.

Early results show Mr Pallas has secured 58.4 per cent of the primary vote, ahead of Liberal candidate Tarun Singh’s 27.2 per cent.

With results returned from eight of 13 voting booths, the ALP has received 68.2 per cent of the two-party preferred (2PP) vote.

Mr Pallas has represented the seat of Tarneit since 2006, but changed to Werribee following boundary redistribution last year.

Former Labor Derrimut MP Telmo Languiller looks set to win the seat of Tarneit.

Mr Languiller has received 47.5 per cent of the primary vote, with 10 of the 12 booths counted.

Liberal candidate Dinesh Gourisetty has 25.9 per cent.

Mr Languiller has been in Parliament since 1999.

In Altona, Labor’s Jill Hennessy is likely to retain her seat, with early results showing a 2PP swing of 2.1 per cent to the ALP.

Ms Hennessy has 52.9 per cent of the primary vote, while Liberal candidate Nihal Samara has 30.6 per cent.

Ms Hennessy has represented Altona since a by-election in February 2010.

Overall, early results suggest that Labor has won at least 45 seats across the state.
