Firefighters are at the scene of a house fire on Heaths Road, Hoppers Crossing, where two people have been assessed for possible smoke inhalation.
Heaths Road eastbound was closed between Westmill Drive and Derrimut Road while Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) worked to extinguish the house fire.
A FRV spokesperson said emergency services received several calls about smoke coming from the roof of the house, and flames at a window, just before 9.30am.
The spokesperson said the single-storey brick house was “well alight” when the first firetruck arrived on the scene at 9.31am. Two people had also evacuated from the house.
The FRV spokesperson said the fire was contained to the front of the house.
Police and paramedics also attended the blaze.
Two people were assessed by paramedics for possible smoke inhalation.
The FRV spokesperson said it was estimated that the firetrucks would remain at the scene for another 45 minutes or so.
