There have been 17 active cases of the coronavirus diagnosed in Wyndham residents, compared to yesterday’s total of 12 active cases.
The total number of COVID-19 cases diagnosed in Wyndham’s residents has reached 75, compared to 70 cases yesterday.
Wyndham now has the eighth-highest number of coronavirus cases in the state.
Across Victoria, there are now 2231 COVID-19 cases, with 72 new cases of the virus reported since yesterday.
According to the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), nine new of the new cases are linked to known outbreaks, 19 new cases have been identified through routine testing and 42 new cases are under investigation.
The new cases linked to known outbreaks include five additional staff members from Al-Taqwa College in Truganina, who have tested positive to the virus at.
Eight staff at the school have now tested positive for the virus.
“Extensive contact tracing is underway and appropriate testing will be undertaken,” a DHHS statement said.
The cases at the college have been linked to previous outbreaks in Sunshine West and Truganina.
A student at Hoppers Crossing Secondary School has also tested positive for the virus.
A new COVID-19 case has been linked to the outbreak at the Coles Chilled Distribution Centre in Laverton, taking the total there to six.
A healthcare worker at the Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Sunshine has tested positive.
This is the fifteenth consecutive day of double-digit case growth in Victoria, with a continuing number of new cases associated with transmission in households and families.
The Victorian Government has announced targeted restrictions for a number of Melbourne suburbs in 10 postcodes that have experienced a spike in positive coronavirus
The restricted postcodes are 3012, 3021, 3032, 3038, 3042, 3046, 3047, 3055, 3060 and 3064.
From 11.59pm tonight, these postcodes must follow Stay at Home directions until July 29.
People who live in these restricted postcodes are only allowed to go out for four reasons: shopping for food and supplies, care and caregiving, exercise and study or work – if unable to work or study from home.
