If you want to learn to dance this year, get ready to swing into your new hobby. Swing Patrol, which runs swing dance classes across Melbourne, will resume teaching in Point Cook on February 5.
Swing dancing is a partner dance of the 1920s to the 1940s, danced to swinging jazz tunes from the Big Band era.
Point Cook teachers Bruce Frame and Celia Webb said they were passionate about sharing the dance and its history, and teaching in a relaxed manner with lots of laughs.
“It’s not all about exercise either, you’ll meet a great group of like-minded adults of all ages, build confidence, learn new communication skills, become part of a wider community of Melbourne dancers,” Ms Webb said.
Mr Frame said attendees at beginner classes did not need any experience or a partner.
The classes run every Wednesday night at 7.30pm, at the Jamieson Way Community Centre. Swing Patrol will also be at the Werribee Pop Up Park in Station Place on Tuesday, January 28 at 1pm.
