Police have continued to crack down on crime and anti-social behaviour at Tarneit’s Ecoville Community Park as the community continues to restore the site to its former glory.
Wyndham inspector Marty Allison said police had been pleased to see families using the park for its intended purpose, with locals hosting a community barbecue recently to encourage others to enjoy the park.
Since the new year, the owners corporation behind the park, police and community members have been holding working bees to paint over graffiti and clean up the site.
“Restoration works at the park have commenced thanks to efforts from the community,” Inspector Allison said.
“The recent barbecue was yet another wonderful celebration of the Tarneit community’s efforts and cohesiveness.”
Inspector Allison said uniform police, the Operational Response Unit and other specialist units were continuing to run Operation Regnant at Ecoville Park and across the west.
“The sort of behaviour which was exhibited in and around the area last year will not be tolerated.
“In recent weeks our regular patrols have encountered few issues.”
Police responded to reports of a group of youths arguing in the vicinity of Crossway Avenue, near Ecoville Park, about 4pm on February 13.
A Victoria Police spokesman said officers took immediate action to restore order by clearing the scene. A 16-year-old Hoppers Crossing boy was arrested for allegedly refusing to move on and becoming aggressive towards police.
