In tune with her career: Mackillop College student Natalie Symonds has been chosen to join the Australian Girls Choir on its international tour to the US.

The 15-year-old was chosen alongside 60 other young girls to travel across San Francisco, Phoenix, Flagstaff, Palm Springs and Los Angeles.

“It’s such an amazing opportunity. I’m really looking forward to meeting the other girls, it’s going to be really exciting,” she said.

Natalie joined the AGC at the age of six. She rehearses with the choir every Thursday night in Kew and with her school choir every day.

During the US tour Natalie will stay with a host family as she travels from place to place, meeting new choir groups in each city.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting the other girls from the other states and also performing at such iconic places in America.”

The tour highlight will be performances at locations such as San Francisco’s historic Ghirardelli Square and at Universal Studios in Los Angeles.

With a passion for music and performing arts, Natalie wants to take this opportunity to become more confident and expand her knowledge.

“My ambition is to become a musician or actress. I take part in the musicals at school, I would really love to have a career doing that,” she said.

“The choir has shaped me as a person, not just in music but in public speaking. I can’t believe that I’m at this level in my career already, I’m just so thankful for these opportunities.”
