Troubadours on home turf

A local operatic trio is bringing its musical talents back home.

Conductor Alan Cook and principal singers Michael Lapina and Michael Lampard will feature at Wyndham Cultural Centre later this month for a CitiOpera performance of Giuseppe Verdi’s opera Il Trovatore.

Mr Cook, who lives in Werribee, said CitiOpera events normally run in Melbourne’s CBD, but a decision was taken to move some performances outside the city centre to wider audiences.

“Because I live in the area, it was my initiative to bring it here as well,” Mr Cook said. “If we get a good audience response, then we’d certainly like to be a regular feature here.”

Mr Lampard, of Point Cook, added: “We want to show what we do in our local community … you’re singing to the people you love.”

Il Trovatore is on at Wyndham Cultural Centre on March 25. Tickets are available at http://bit.ly/2m82G2E
