Library lesson saves money

A program that aims to attract people to libraries instead of gaming venues will come to Werribee next year.

The state government has announced it will provide funding to bring the Libraries After Dark program to the Werribee Plaza library at the Pacific Werribee shopping centre, in 2020.

Funded as a pilot by the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation in 2017, the Libraries After Dark project provides “vulnerable Victorians” with an alternative to gaming venues.

Under the program, libraries extend their opening hours into the evening.
