Film festival

The fifth annual Setting Sun Short Film Festival is calling for entries to screen at the Sun Theatre Yarraville in April, offering thousands of dollars worth of prizes to category winners in the five-day festival. Entries close January 31.

Moonlight movie

Captain Underpants (PG) will be screened at Altona’s Logan Reserve on Friday, February 2 at dusk (about 8.30pm) as part of Hobsons Bay council’s free Movies by the Bay program.

Historical move

The Williamstown Historical Society museum is open for the last time on Sunday, February 4 from 1-4pm, before a temporary closure to undertake extensive building repairs. The museum is at the Mechanics Institute, 5 Electra Street, Williamstown – its home for the past 62 years.

Raising resilient kids

The inner west churches are hosting a parenting information evening with author and motivational speaker Sharon Witt on Tuesday, February 6 from 7.30pm at Williamstown Church of Christ, corner Douglas Parade and John Street, Williamstown. Tickets $10. Details and registration:

Be mindful

A free one-hour mindfulness and meditation workshop will be held on February 7 from 7-8pm at Williamstown Community Centre, 14 Thompson Street, Williamstown. Present Mindfulness Academy co-founders Amanda Spencer and Suzanne Marambio will lead mindfulness practices, meditations, and scenarios of when and how you can use Mindfulness to improve your life.
