Girls on the Green

Ladies, it’s time to give lawn bowls a try at Werribee Bowls Club, Chirnside Park, Werribee, on March 21 from 10.30am-12.30pm. Free. No experience necessary.

Werribee Community Singers

The Werribee Community Singers are a fun social singing group that meets up on Wednesdays during the school term from 7-9pm at room 3, Central Community Centre, Lonsdale Circuit, Hoppers Crossing. No experience needed, just a love of singing. All welcome.

Self-defense for kids

Gracie Barra, 13 Elm Park Drive, Hoppers Crossing, is offering an opportunity for kids to build unshakable confidence, make new friends and learn self defense. The free class is open to children aged six years and over and will be held on March 16. Places are limited, so registrations are essential.

Drive-Thru recycling

Have you got an old television, furniture or bulky cardboard that is taking up space in your house? Wyndham council will host a pop-up recycling day on March 23 from 8am-1.30pm at Wootten Road Reserve in Tarneit. A range of household items will be accepted, including electronic waste, furniture, bikes, barbecues and bulky cardboard. Maximum 15 items per household, no commercial quantities.

Give blood

Wyndham residents have more opportunities to save lives thanks to extended hours at the Werribee Blood Donor Centre. The centre, at 7 Bridge Street, Werribee, is now open on Saturdays from 9am-4pm, giving full-time workers and other time-poor people the chance to pop in and donate blood.

Meet the author

The Plaza Library will host Australia’s queen of true crime, Robin Bowles, to discuss her latest book, Death on the Derwent. The free event will be held on Friday, March 15, between 6.30-7.30pm.

Come to the fair

Come and support the students of Little River Primary School to raise funds for their playground at a fair on March 17 from 10am-3pm, at 21 Flinders Street, Little River. Free entry, free parking, fundraising auction, animal farm, homemade jams and cakes, house of horrors, side show games and activities, dancing and entertainment. Come and enjoy a wonderful family day in this tranquil semi-rural setting.

Volunteers wanted

Mercy Palliative Care is looking for volunteers to support clients and carers in their homes, including being with someone while their carer goes out, taking clients for a drive or to an appointment, patient biographies and dog walking. Full training and support provided.
