RESIDENTS concerned about the result of the Wyndham Council election could ask the Local Government Investigation and Compliance Inspectorate to look into the results.
Werribee’s Michael Young is calling on residents to share their concerns.
Mr Young said he was distressed that Cr Gautam Gupta, who received the 13th highest primary vote out of 19 Chaffey ward candidates, could be elected.
Preference distribution led to Cr Gupta finishing in second, eliminating former mayor Kim McAliney and Greens candidate Bro Sheffield-Brotherton.

Mr Young said the result did not “respect the wishes” of residents.
“He was not voted in by the residents of Wyndham. “People are horrified that someone who received 902 votes could be elected. We can’t allow it to happen.”
Many residents have taken to Facebook to voice their concerns about the election, with posts calling on the Victorian Electoral Commission to change the voting system.
Cr Gupta said it was time people stopped looking at minor issues and started looking at major problems like rates.
