Melbourne Cup horses take to Werribee

FORMER Melbourne Cup winner Americain was put through his paces at Werribee Racing Club last week as part of final preparations for this year’s big race.

The 2010 winner and other international horses have been at the club’s quarantine centre since the start of the racing season. They took to the track on Thursday and Friday to ensure they were in top condition ahead of yesterday’s race.

The club also hosted a breakfast with the stars on Thursday, allowing racing enthusiasts to get close to some of the cup’s star horses and jockeys.
