Rave review for cerebral miracle team

Rave the kelpie returned to the Melbourne University’s vet hospital in Werribee last week to meet the team who performed revolutionary brain surgery on her two years ago.

Rave was the first pet to have brain surgery at the hospital using a scanner usually used on humans.

The scanner helped neurologist Dr Sam Long (pictured) pinpoint Rave’s tumour. Rave returned to the hospital last Tuesday with owner Adam Finlay (also pictured) to have a check-up, which included a full neurological exam. Dr Long says brain cancer is similar in humans and dogs.

he vet hospital performs six to eight brain surgeries a year.
