Shot fired in fight outside Werribee Plaza Tavern

A GUN was fired during an argument between a group of men outside a Hoppers Crossing pub on Monday night.

A Laverton man, 31, was arrested after the confrontation outside the Werribee Plaza Tavern after 11pm. He was released pending summons.

Police said a dispute between two men escalated after one of them left the pub and returned shortly after with another man and a gun. The pair waited outside the pub before they approached and allegedly assaulted a Hoppers Crossing man, 26. They confronted the victim before the fight broke out, during which a gun shot was fired. Police said the victim was hit with the butt of the gun and suffered cuts to his head.

Paramedics rushed the man to Werribee Mercy Hospital in a stable condition.

Police are seeking witnesses. Information to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
