Justin’s global challenge

WHEN Justin Vasquez began singing four years ago he never imagined he would one day travel to the Philippines to represent Australia at a global competition. But next year, the Grange College student will head to Manila to compete in Global Singing Idol.

Justin, 13, will compete against other Filipino youths from around the world after finishing runner-up in the Australian finals in Melbourne. “I began singing when I was nine years old with my mum and uncle who inspired me to go further with my music,” he said.

“I play guitar, piano, drums and sing, all self taught. When I started performing, audiences used to scare me but each performance brought positive feedback and my confidence slowly built up.”
