Bashed woman’s car dumped
Detectives have found a car stolen from a woman who was bashed in a terrifying home robbery in Wyndham Vale last Tuesday. The car was found at 8am Wednesday, dumped in Black Forest Road near Haines Drive, about two kilometres from her house. Three men wearing balaclavas and hoodies, including one with a gun, forced their way into the house and assaulted the 31-year-old about 10.30pm before stealing her car. A police spokeswoman sad the woman had been inside the Feathertop Drive house with two other women. The men had a short conversation with the woman before bashing her several times in the head and upper body. She is in a stable condition in Sunshine Hospital.
Last chance to vote in poll
Wyndham residents are being reminded that voting for council elections closes on Friday. Residents need to ensure their ballot paper is received by the returning officer by 6pm for their vote to counted and to avoid a fine. Voters who have not received a ballot pack should phone 8742 6091 immediately.
Cash the bait for anglers
Wyndham angling groups can apply for recreational fishing grants of up to $100,000. Clubs, boat hire businesses, councils and schools are eligible to apply for the state grants. Large-grant submissions must be received by February 28. Small grants of up to $5000 are available year round. More details: dpi.vic.gov.au.
Clarification
Werribee carer Margo Kendall (Carers need someone to rely on too, Weekly, October 17) has praised the support of Carers Victoria and Wyndham Council’s aged care services staff. Mrs Kendall, whose husband Neville had two strokes in February, said she was grateful for all the help she received. She said while putting her husband into full-time care would be a step backwards for him at this time, she was full of praise for the services provided by aged care facilities.
Prize honours top students
Wyndham students with strong vocational skills are being encouraged to apply for the $2000 Australian vocational student prize.
