Cambridge primary a school of many faces

HAYDEN, 6, Harry, 10, and Addison, 5, are busy collecting raffle prizes for Cambridge Primary School’s annual fete.

This year’s event, on October 27, is part of the school’s 20th anniversary celebrations.

Teacher Michelle Deans has been at Cambridge since it opened and has seen many changes over the years. “In 1992 there were just 200 children and now we have over 800 kids. The students were mainly Anglo-Saxon and now we have so many different ethnic backgrounds. We have 67 different nationalities.”

The school’s grounds have also developed. “Our football oval used to just be a ground with rocks. We had a roster of grades to collect rocks from the oval so the students could play on it.”

The fete is from 10am-3pm.
