A NEWBORN baby has died as a result of a car crash in Point Cook on Tuesday.
The collision occurred at the intersection of Boardwalk Boulevard and Dunnings Road at about 10am.
Police believe a vehicle travelling north along Boardwalk Boulevard struck another vehicle travelling east on Dunnings Road.
A pregnant woman involved in the collision gave birth prematurely and her baby died in hospital later that day.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
