During the next three weeks, the Weekly will profile the candidates seeking your vote. Nine hopefuls will battle it out in Iramoo ward. We profile them here.

Candidates Nathan Tavendale and Tony Cahill did not respond.

Name: Peter Maynard

Age: 56

Resides: Wyndham Vale

Occupation: Storeman

Political party/affiliation: Australian Labor Party

I will advocate for improved public transport,  a full diamond interchange at Duncans Road, upgrading Duncans Road to the marina, staged duplication of Ballan Road, natural gas to Werribee South and additional parking in the Werribee CBD. I will re-introduce ward meetings and review the rating system.

Name: Eilis Hughes

Age: 38

Resides: Werribee

Occupation: Disability policy officer

Political party/affiliation: Australian Greens

I want to build a community where people feel connected, included and proud of where they live. In Wyndham, we deserve hard-working councillors who listen to us and make sensible decisions that are good for council’s finances, good for our environment and most importantly good for our people.

Name: Peter Gibbons

Age: 62

Resides: Hoppers Crossing.

Occupation: Retired police officer

Political party/affiliation: Independent

I am standing for council to continue the community involvement I was engaged in when I was an officer with Victoria Police. I believe with my experience, I have a lot to offer the Wyndham community. I consider the pressing issues to be inadequate traffic and transport infrastructure and public transport links.

Name: Heather Marcus

Resides: Werribee

Occupation: Event co-ordinator

Political party/affiliation: Independent

I have the energy, determination and necessary business and leadership skills. During the previous council term, I achieved many positive outcomes including funding for the Regional Rail Link and Wyndham Vale Community and Learning Centre. I will continue to stand up and fight for residents on issues such as road congestion and youth services.

…………………………………………………..

Name: Kylie Cowie

Age: 24

Resides: Little River

Occupation: Recruitment consultant

Political party/affiliation: Independent

I wish to ensure there is a strong independent voice which will deliver effective outcomes for Wyndham residents. Some pressing issues include the Duncans Road interchange, traffic congestion in and around Wyndham Vale, the lack of parking in Werribee CBD and no comprehensive planning for future emergency services in Wyndham Vale.

…………………………………………………..

Name: Ramandeep Singh

Age: 31

Suburb: Tarneit

Occupation: Logistics

Political party/affiliation: Independent

I am a postgraduate and have been active in student politics since university. I am contesting to raise the voice of ratepayers and will advocate for a greener environment and more sustainable resources. I will push for a major infrastructure development in Wyndham including more roads, parks, child and aged care facilities.

Name: Cynthia Manson

Age: 36

Resides: Werribee

Occupation: Wyndham councillor

Political party/affiliation: Australian Labor Party

There’s still more work to be done to improve roads, employment, community services and our livability.  I have the courage, knowledge and co-operative values to work on these matters for you.  It has been an honour to serve the community for 10 years and I seek your support to continue for another four.
