Werribee Centrals came so close to a major upset in the Geelong and District Netball League A grade grand final. Centrals lost 37-33 to defending champions Winchelsea, but not before giving it a huge fright. Mid-courter Danni Stewart was inspirational for the Centrals, taking home the best-on-court award, while Mickayla Ward and Emma Maycock were the other standouts.

Glenorden has fired the first significant shots of the Western Region Football League off-season, revealing on Twitter two massive signings that will shake up division 2. Werribee City will have to wait another year for its Victorian Premier League dream to become a reality. The Bees are out of the running for a top-two finish after a 4-2 loss to ladder-leader Pascoe Vale on Sunday. Hoppers Crossing had a 1-1 draw with bogey side Upfield in provisional league 2, while Truganina ran riot in a 9-4 thrashing of Keon Park in the men’s metropolitan league.
