WYNDHAMVALE has its claws on a highly sought after Western Region Football League division 2 finals double chance.
All the Falcons had to do was take care of business with a win over Caroline Springs in the penultimate round at Wyndhamvale Reserve and third spot was staying at Honour Avenue.
Luke Dennerley’s team completed the task with the ruthlessness of a team that is peaking at the right time of the year, racking up 47 scoring shots in a 112-point demolition of the league newest expansion club.
The Falcons have booked a week-one finals bout with second-placed Parkside for the right to move into a second semi-final and the quickest route to a grand final.
But the two sides have a round to negotiate yet and both of their matches will have a massive bearing on the make-up of the finals.
Wyndhamvale will lock horns with Albanvale Cobras on the road at Robert Bruce Oval on Saturday. The Cobras sit just outside the top-five on percentage. Parkside will square off with Glenorden Hawks at Henry Turner Reserve.
The Hawks are level on 34 premiership points with the Cobras, but hold a 3 per cent advantage.
If the games are true to form and both the Cobras and the Hawks lose, it will come down to percentage.
But it’s not out of the realms of possibility that one side or both can cause an upset.
