WRFL: Wyndhamvale anger at incident

WYNDHAMVALE is upset about an incident behind the play that landed promising young defender Aidan Boland in hospital over the weekend.

Boland suffered a broken jaw in a scuffle away from the ball in the second quarter of the Falcons’ heated local derby with Glenorden at Wyndhamvale Reserve on Saturday.

The second-year full-back will miss the rest of the home-and-away season and is considered a doubtful starter in the Falcons’ finals side.

Falcons coach Luke Dennerley was disturbed by the actions of an opposition player in what he called an “isolated” incident in an otherwise hard, but fair, clash between the two Wyndham clubs.

“You don’t want to see those sorts of things,” he said. “It was off the footy and it shouldn’t have happened. A bit of the shine was taken off the win.”

Boland said on his Facebook page on Sunday: “Thanks for all the love, Falcons family.”
