MUSICIAN Laura Hill has always appreciated good food and wine and beautiful music.
So when the opportunity arose for her to do a national tour combining them all, she jumped at the chance.
The South Australian is in the middle of a seven-date national winery tour, which will bring her to Werribee’s Shadowfax Winery on Saturday.
The tour will mix Hill’s laid-back melodies with food and wine, creating a relaxed, family-friendly event.
She says her performances are about giving people a chance to chill-out on a weekend.
“People work really hard these days, so it is nice to sit back and relax and listen to some music in a nice setting.
“It will be a relaxing show with lots of wines and good food and good music. It will be a mixing of the senses.”
The idea for the tour came from Hill’s desire to try something different.
“There is some beautiful wine, food and produce in my backyard which I decided to mix with music,” she says.
“The performances have been successful and so we decided to go on tour.”
During the show, the audience will have the chance to hear songs from Hill’s new EP The Guava Tree as well as her 2010 LP Over My Shoulder.
She describes her music as “thoughtful and intimate” and says she identifies as a songwriter more than a singer.
Hill says she gets inspiration for her music from everyday life.
“The inspiration comes from everywhere; from a story I’ve read to a saying I’ve heard or a dream I’ve had. I’d like to think I knew where they came from, but more often than not it just happens.”
Saturday’s show is from 1-4pm. Bookings: 97314420
