Western suburbs shooting spree sparks stray-bullet fear

A SERIES of random shootings at properties and cars in the western suburbs over the past three months are now believed to be linked.

Police are investigating the connection between shootings at five properties in Hoppers Crossing, Truganina and Tarneit.

A bullet hole was found at a property in Doynton Parade, Hoppers Crossing on April 14.

Two days later a similar incident was reported from a home in Westmeadows Lane, Truganina.

Bullet holes were also found in a vehicle and a garage door in Hogans Road, Tarneit more than a month later, on May 24, and a single shot was fired at a Hogans Road property in Hoppers Crossing on June 7.

Police said that while the shootings appeared random and have caused no injuries, they believed it was only a matter of time before a stray bullet hurt someone.

The most recent shooting damage was reported at a property in Sayers Road, Truganina on Friday last week.

Damage to a window and a wall was thought to have occurred sometime from Wednesday night on June 27 until the early hours of Friday, June 29.

Detectives from Wyndham crime investigation unit have urged anyone with information to report it before someone got killed or seriously injured.

Anonymous calls can be made to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
