ROOFTOP solar panels at Point Cook and Werribee libraries will be part of a program to make Wyndham a little greener.
The two libraries will be fitted with five-kilowatt solar panel systems, expected to each save about 8900 kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions a year. Mayor Kim McAliney says the move is part of a wider environmental focus in the city’s 2011-12 capital works budget.
She says the emissions reduction from the solar panel systems will be the equivalent of taking eight cars off the road each year.
“These solar panels will provide not only a saving in terms of carbon emissions, but also a financial saving to Wyndham City, as they reduce our energy bills.”
