MORE than 100 dancers will square their sets as Crossroads Square Dance Club celebrates its 30-year anniversary.
The centuries-old folk dance is alive and well in Melbourne, according to club directors Brenda and Howard Cockburn (pictured), with dancers coming from Bacchus Marsh, Geelong, Narre Warren and as far afield as South Australia.
Brenda says it’s a fun form of exercise for people aged over 50 and a good way to meet new friends.
“There’s no running, it’s all at walking pace and it’s definitely more fun than a stroll. It’s been described as friendship set to music.”
The club’s anniversary will be celebrated at a dance nights this Wednesday at the Senior Citizens Hall, Kelly Park, Werribee. Details: 97415401.
