AYEISHA Abdi-Farah has always wanted to follow in the footsteps of her idols on her favourite TV shows.
Now she has a chance to make her dreams come true after being selected to audition for Nickelodeon and the Disney Channel in the US.
The eight-year-old Werribee resident auditioned for American producers in Melbourne, during a visit to Australia in search of new talent.
The producers interviewed, auditioned and critiqued hundreds of aspiring actors before asking a handful of children, including Ayeisha, to attend a second round of auditions in Florida.
She will travel to Florida next July with her mum Sarah, where she will be asked to perform a monologue, a soap opera scene, a comedy skit, and a commercial.
If successful, Ayeisha will sign with a Gold Coast agent who will aim to secure her work on Nickelodeon and the Disney Channel.
Mrs Abdi-Farah says Ayeisha will be able to audition for jobs around the world if the Florida trip goes well.
“She has always wanted to be an actress. She is such a bubbly kid … this puts her in the spotlight.”
Ayeisha is preparing for the audition by watching her favourite television shows, including Hannah Montana.
“The more I watch Hannah Montana and The Wizard of Oz the more I can’t wait. That could be me one day.”
Since being chosen for the second-round auditions, Ayeisha has been brushing up on her skills at Werribee’s Screen Actors Studio.
“She never had any classes before, it was just something she was interested in doing so when she got through I thought it would be a good opportunity for her to learn new skills before going to Florida,” Mrs Abdi-Farah said.
“She has been given a list [by the producers] of things she has to do and learn. Every day there is something she has to do.”
While in Florida, Ayeisha will get the chance to walk a red carpet and meet current Nickelodeon and Disney Channel stars.
