POINT Cook has brought in the heavy artillery in its fight against cancer, with Prime Minister Julia Gillard heeding the call to arms.
Joining the Cancer Council and residents including Ethan (pictured) at Featherbrook Oval last Friday, Ms Gillard encouraged people to register for the suburb’s first Relay for Life event in November.
She said the relay was a meaningful way for survivors, families, sufferers and their carers to unite against cancer, giving hope to those afflicted by the “disease that doesn’t discriminate”.
Point Cook’s Relay For Life starts at 4pm on November 17 and finishes at 1pm the next day. Teams of 10 or more will take turns to keep a baton moving overnight. Register at relayforlife.org.au or 1300656585
