WYNDHAM’S older residents will soon have somewhere to socialise, with work to start on the Tarneit Gardens ‘ageing well’ centre.
The $8.7 million facility on Penrose Promenade will include maternal and child health services and two kindergarten rooms. Cr Glenn Goodfellow says the hub will cater for residents of all ages.
“While Wyndham is often associated with an increasing number of young families, our older population is also on the rise.”
Cr Goodfellow said that at present, about 10 per cent of Wyndham’s population is aged 60 or over.
“This is expected to rise to more than 15per cent by 2031, making this facility vital to provide programs and services to our older residents.”
