WRFL: New signing Carey king for Warriors

SUMMER signing Kade Carey was back to his best for Hoppers Crossing in a 12-point win over Deer Park in the Western Region Football League division 1 at Hogans Road Reserve on Saturday.

Carey has been a slow starter for the Warriors this season and was rested the previous week to shake off any minor niggles following the opening month.

It seemed to work a treat, the power forward booting four goals and having a hand in a number of others to salute for best-on-ground honours.

The win was a byproduct of the Warriors’ persistence over four quarters. They ground away for the best part of three quarters to obtain a one-point three-quarter-time lead. Then they slammed the foot to the metal in a final term which they dominated.

Daniel Riosa, Brydon Coles, Aaron Ramsay and Scott Greenhough were among the best for the Warriors.

Shannon Downey, Jarryd Ramsay, Aaron Williams and Mitch Merrifield snared two goals apiece.

The Warriors will meet St Albans this Saturday in a tricky encounter at Kings Park Reserve.
