GDFL: West left right out as Centrals show the way

WERRIBEE Centrals turned it up an extra notch to thrash Geelong West on the road by a double-your-score 70points in the Geelong and District Football League Smiths Holden Cup at the Western Oval on Saturday.

The Centurions are beginning to show their best form and will get only better in the coming weeks as players are drip-fed back into the line-up off the injury list.

Player-coach Luke Phipps returned this week to make his playing debut for the Centurions after crossing from WRFL club Hoppers Crossing.

Josh Richmond played his first senior game and managed to snare a goal. But the win came at the cost of further injuries to David Leach and Blake Pilkington.

Irrespective of the personnel issues, the Centurions comfortably accounted for Geelong West.

Nathan Lovell was instrumental in giving first use to the Centurions runners out of the ruck and they delivered the ball on a platter to six-goal star Craig Rosenzweig.

The Centurions are mid-table with a 3-2 record and get a chance to improve when they host Anakie (4-1) in a Saturday blockbuster at Galvin Park.
