VSDCA: Tigers out of title fight

WERRIBEE’S part in the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association ended at the weekend.

The Tigers third XI was dumped from the title race with a three-wicket semi-final loss to Brunswick at Soldiers Reserve.

The weekend’s mood was spoilt from the get go with a terrible day one batting performance.

The Tigers slumped to an embarrassing 8-45 before a late run boost from captain James Doolan (44), Brayden Koch (20) and Tim Gage (17 not out) gave the hosts a 127 total to defend.

The Wicks were in a spot of bother, groggy on 6-40 after Alex Shanks (4-25) ripped through the top order.

The tourists steadied for a convincing victory and leave the Tigers with no grand final teams.
