Dom Dudkiewicz fires in Footscray Cycling Club finale

GUN sprinter Dom Dudkiewicz finished the Footscray Cycling Club’s criterium season in style with victory in the final Agrade race at the VUT Circuit in Hoppers Crossing on Saturday.

In what is becoming standard fare for the A-graders, competitors set an impossibly high pace from the get-go to stretch the peloton to breaking point, and within 10 minutes a breakaway began to form with Dudkiewicz seeing the writing on the wall and making a break for it.

In the dying stages, Paul Anders put in one of his ‘do or die’ attacks, but Lachie Doak and Marco Duys reeled him in, leaving Dudkiewicz perfectly placed behind a hard-driving James Love to win the sprint from Trent Derecourt and Shaun Gatter.
