On the move

Schools are being encouraged to apply for grants of $5000 offered by Wyndham council’s Active Travel to School Program. Wyndham mayor Peter Maynard said the program was open to private and public P-9 and P-12 schools which wanted to encourage students to explore more active ways to travel to and from school, such as walking or cycling. Applications will close on Monday, December 10. Details: www.smartygrants.com.au

Hunt for burglar

Police are seeking to identify a man in relation to burglaries at a shopping centre in Heaths Road, Hoppers Crossing between March and May this year. The man, who is perceived to be Pacific Islander in appearance and about 178cm tall with a solid build, was wearing a black Nike hoodie, a black cap, beige pants and dark shoes. Entries open

Entries are being accepted for next year’s Wyndham Art Prize. In addition to the main prize of $10,000, the competition offers participants the opportunity to be awarded bursaries for postgraduate studies at Deakin University.
