With stage one of the Werribee centre’s $47 million redevelopment now complete, users were given a chance to inspect, and play on, the updated facilities last Wednesday.
Stage one included creation of eight indoor multi-sports courts, four external netball courts, a show court with seating for up to 500 people, a cafe and a temporary creche.
The project’s second stage will include an area for nine table tennis tables, a health club, an expansion of the show court to accommodate an extra 1000 people, meeting rooms and expansion of creche and administration areas.
The works are expected to be completed in mid-2016.
A community open day will be held on June14, from 9am-2pm, to give residents a chance to experience all that the new centre has to offer.
Players from the Melbourne United basketball team and Netball Victoria will be in attendance and there will be a Big V match and a half-court shoot-out competition.
