Crime spree arrest

A 19-year-old Wyndham Vale man has been charged in relation to a crime spree in Werribee last week. Police responded to triple-0 calls about a suspicious person trying to get into parked vehicles in Hopetoun Road early last Thursday. Police arrested a man near the scene. He was charged with theft from a motor vehicle, theft of a motor vehicle, resisting police, assaulting police, going equipped to steal, possessing a controlled weapon and committing offences while on bail.

Driver unhurt

A 32-year-old Wyndham Vale driver escaped unhurt after his car rolled on Woods Road at Truganina last Wednesday. It appeared the man’s car hit a rock and he lost control. Sergeant Graeme Crouch said evidence suggested excessive speed and over-correcting were causes. He said the man had a cancelled interstate licence and faces charges of unlicensed and careless driving.
