Nominate your hero for Wyndham Community Volunteer Awards

Do you know an unsung Wyndham hero who deserves recognition?

Registrations for the Wyndham Community Volunteer Awards close next week, and Wyndham council wants residents to nominate friends, relatives or neighbours who have made a significant contribution.

Award categories include community engagement; community wellbeing; culture, arts and tourism; environment and sustainability; sports and recreation; young volunteer of the year; and community group.

Winners will be announced at a presentation evening on August 14.

The pool of winners will also go into the running for the citizen of the year award, which will be picked by an independent judging panel and awarded on the same evening.

Werribee resident Margaret Campbell was last year’s citizen of the year. She has been volunteering for almost 50 years and is an active member of 15 community organisations, including the Wyndham community arts alliance.

To nominate someone, go to bit.ly/1H2zQl0 for a nomination form and submit it to Wyndham council’s major events team by 5pm on May 22.
