The jump from primary school to secondary college can be big, adapting to a new environment, new friends and a new uniform.
At The Grange P-12 College, students from five to 18-years old can enjoy consistent learning from prep right through to year 12.
“We cater to Wyndham students of all ages and abilities, providing a seamless transition throughout their education, with a diverse curriculum,” principal David Smillie says.
“The two-campus structure, including our primary campus in Callistemon Drive and secondary campus in Deloraine Drive, provides an intimacy that allows students and staff to know each other – this creates a sense of belonging and community, one which empowers the entire school.
“Our college aims to improve learning outcomes for all students. We offer highly engaging lessons and model our values on respect, learning and working together,” he says.
Programs available include student leadership, sport and performing arts; Italian and Hindi language classes; VCAL and VET programs; a high achievers program; an after school homework club; and a full range of representative sports.
The college also gives students advice on tertiary studies and has
a trade training centre for those interested in a career in the automotive industry.
“We give our senior students pathways advice and help them plan for the future through our partnerships with Deakin and Melbourne universities. We also offer them a large range of subject choices to help them study what they’re interested in, to get into their chosen career.”
Mr Smillie says staff are dedicated, caring, motivated and student-focussed, allowing them to provide students with the best possible learning environment.
“Our teachers and staff uphold the college’s values, which are respect, learning and working together, and we encourage students to follow these. Staff are approachable and eager to assist students and parents, and they are committed to seeing each of our students achieve their best.”
