April 30, 1980

A move to shift the Hoppers Crossing railway station to the east side of Old Geelong Road has caused concern to shop owners of the adjacent shopping centre. Relocation of the station is seen to have advantages in being located next to the proposed large shopping centre because of easier car parking and bus access.

May 2, 1990

Angry Werribee parents have slammed the disciplinary system of Geelong College after seven students were suspended for 10 weeks for allegedly harassing a teacher. The students were suspended despite no charges being laid against them by Werribee police.

Russian and British Olympic athletes wish to train at the Werribee/Victoria Clay Target Club but an existing permit could stop them. About 70 members of the teams may not be able to make Werribee their training home – effectively costing revenue for the club and tourism dollars for Wyndham – because the Ballan Road range has a permit for training one day a week.

Wyndham council has abandoned its zero tolerance approach to poker machines in favour of a population-based policy. It hopes the change of stance will strengthen its position with the Victorian Commission for Gambling Regulation, where it can present a social and economic impact statement in response to each application for poker machines.
