Good Friday appeal: Werribee family’s thanks for hospital

The Royal Children’s Hospital “means a lot” to Werribee’s Azzopardi family.

The family’s youngest two children – James, 4, and Isabella, 2 – have severe asthma, resulting in regular trips to the hospital for treatment.

James spent time in the hospital a couple of weeks ago after his medication failed to make a difference to his condition. While in hospital, the pair are treated with oxygen and a steroid.

Mum Justine said knowing that there was a facility like the RCH close to home made a big difference to her family.

“Everyone at the hospital is there for the kids. It means a lot to us as a family,” she said.

“You never know when we are going to need to visit the hospital but it’s there to make the kids better.”

Mrs Azzopardi said she could not praise the staff at the hospital enough, believing they helped make James and Isabella’s stays more tolerable.

“It even makes a difference for me. I don’t feel as stressed. The staff know me and know how to help me out. To parents, that make a big difference.”

Mrs Azzopardi is urging Wyndham residents to dig deep for this Good Friday Appeal.

Appeal executive director Anne Randall said money raised helps fund equipment, research and education.
